Sometimes, after uploading a 3D object, you may encounter some problems. For example, the 3D object may not be displayed correctly, it's meshes may be broken, with wrong dimension and rotation, or the textures and materials may not be displayed correctly.
There are many reasons why this can happen. In the following sections, we will explain the most common problems and how to solve them.
Sometimes the project may be empty. This can happen if the 3D object is uploaded in a specific format, like .glb and, for some reason, the process of converting the 3D object to the .usdz format failed.
On Apple devices we show the model in the .usdz format, while on web browsers we show the .glb format. So everytime you upload a 3D object, we convert it to the other format. If the conversion fails, the object in the other platforms will be empty.
It's important to know that the conversion process is automatic and it's done by our servers. So, to avoid problems, you can help the converter by following some rules.
For example, you can try to reduce the number of polygons of the 3D object, reduce the number of textures, or the size of the textures. This will help the converter to process the 3D object faster and with less errors.
Sometimes the model or some parts of the model are traslated, scaled or rotated. This can happen if the 3D object contains some metadata about the position, scale or rotation of the objects.
For example, if you upload a 3D object that was created in Blender, be sure to apply the transformations before exporting it. This will avoid problems with the position, scale or rotation of the objects when it's uploaded to 3DtoMe.
So, look in the software you used to create the 3D object and check if position, rotation and scale values are set to 0. If not, apply the transformations and export the 3D object again.
Sometimes the model or some parts of the model don't have textures or materials. This can happen if the 3D object have textures or materials that are not supported by 3DtoMe.
For example, if you upload a 3D object that have textures or materials created with a specific software, like Substance Painter, be sure to export the textures and materials in a format that is supported by 3DtoMe.
Also be sure that the textures and materials are correctly linked to the 3D object. If the textures and materials are not linked, the 3D object will be displayed without them.
