Comments

Comments are a great way to engage with your collaborators and get feedback on your 3D content. You can use comments to ask questions, share your thoughts, and start conversations with your collaborators.

Comments are available on 3DtoMe for macOS, visionOS, Android XR and the web. You can create comments and reply to them in the apps and in the 3DtoMe web viewer. The steps for the web are below.

Comments are similar to annotations, but they are designed for collaboration and feedback.

To add or edit comments on 3DtoMe for macOS follow these steps:

1. Open the 3DtoMe app on your Mac.
2. Open the 3D content you want to comment on.
3. Find the "Chat" section in the right sidebar.
4. Create a new comment by clicking on the "New comment" button or reply to an existing comment.

To add or edit comments on 3DtoMe for visionOS and Android XR follow these steps:

1. Open the 3DtoMe app on your Apple Vision Pro or Android XR.
2. Open the 3D content you want to comment on.
3. Click on the "Chat" icon in the floating menu.
4. Create a new comment by clicking on the "New comment" button or reply to an existing comment by clicking on the relative dot.

In the web viewer, comments live in the Comments tab of the right panel. The panel inside the tab is titled Chat. You need to be signed in to add a comment.

The web viewer saves comments, replies and deletions only for the project owner, on a project that is not public. Comments and replies that anyone else adds appear only on that person's screen. They disappear when that person leaves or reloads the page.

1. Open the project.
2. Open the right panel with the button at the top right, then click the Comments tab.
3. Click the + button next to the Chat title. A hint says "Click on the model to place a comment".
4. Click the point on the model the comment is about.
5. In the New comment window, write your text in Comment and click Add, or press Enter.

While you place a comment, the + button turns into a red cross. Click it or press Esc to cancel. The new comment appears as a marker on the model.

Click a comment in the list, or its marker on the model, to open the thread. The thread shows the comment and its replies from oldest to newest. Your own messages sit on the right.

To reply, type in the "Write a reply…" box at the bottom of the thread and press Enter or click the send button. Shift+Enter starts a new line.

To delete a reply, right-click it and choose Delete reply. Close the thread with the close button, Esc, or a click outside it.

Each comment in the list shows its author, how long ago it was posted, the start of the text, the model it belongs to and the number of replies.

To open a shared link with every comment showing, turn on Show Comments in the Share window.

Visitors who are not signed in can read threads, search and show or hide markers. They can't add, reply or delete.

• Saving comments and replies needs a Corporate or Enterprise plan. On a lower plan, clicking + or sending a reply on your own project opens the upgrade window. See Features by plan.
• A collaborative call doesn't share comments live.
• On a project the 3DtoMe team has locked, a Project locked dialog tells you the web viewer didn't save your change.
